So my dad is something else. I told him that I have no hope of ever getting better pain wise and he tells me that I have to have hope. I’m so tired of him telling me that I have to believe that I’ll get better when I’ve just accepted that I’m like this.

my dad is the same way. able bodied people are sometimes freaked out by the idea that health isn’t something you can control, so a lot of the time they use logic like that to get the idea out of their head or at least soften the blow of it. i haven’t figured out a way to get it through his head so at this point i just ignore it.

My dad is also the same way and I have a similar experience to the first commenter except my dad has the same thing I do just not as severe. I think they also do it out of a place of love, most parents don't want to see their child in pain. And it's okay to have no hope of getting better, I'm honestly at the same place and I'm just trying to figure out what I can do with my new normal.
