TW: sensitive subject I’m really struggling to be honest with my psychiatrist and her nurses about how bad things are. I think they have an idea of it, because the nurse called me the day after my annual assessment just to make sure I did good things for myself yesterday, and had plans of doing more good things for myself today… then I got a call asking if I could take a cancellation in an hour from now. Any tips on saying the hard things? I don’t want to go to a hospital, which is what’s holding me back. Part of me would rather just not get help and wait for the day my courage is enough to take care of shit myself.

You do need to advocate for what you feel will help you. And, yeah, maybe just pick one tough topic and have that be it for that session then do some self care when you are done.

Take care of yourself, but don't let your conditions ruin or rule your life. Sometimes we just have to risk things but find out your HIPPA rights and legal rights before yiu go to thr hospital. Just an idea.
What I’ve realized is that asking for help is one of the hardest things to do. Because sometimes when you ask people dismiss it and it makes you wish you never said anything. But waiting for your thoughts to take over doesn’t help you. I’m also struggling with this right now so I understand how it feels. You don’t want to go back to the hospital but you need more support than what your getting. It’s okay to advocate for yourself and if going back to hospital isn’t going to help you then make that clear. If you never try you never know if things will get better. I’m hoping things will get better for us both.

From what it sounds like, you WANT help, but going to the hospital isnt something that you think WILL help. If youre more honest about how rough things are, and maybe try and explain how you don't want a hospital, they could help find some kind of different treatment options for you! But, ultimately its up to you about your comfort levels and opening up, just know you're doing a great job and I'm very proud you're getting help 💕

🤗 its hard to fully unmask in for a stranger. You should tell them that. They might be able to help you with that. Just do one step at a time. Pick one thing and that can be your topic for that session. I really hope this helps.
No one can force you to go to the hospital, but what they can do is help support you and make things safer for you. I know it's really scary to let people know the truth of how bad your thoughts are, but it's totally worth it. It changed my life.
