I’ve been taking Seroquel for about 3 months now and i’m noticing side effects and. I also took a genetic test which placed Seroquel in yellow or “middle range” for some gene-drug interactions but my psychiatrist is sorta reluctant to take me off even though there are other antipsychotics listed in the green or “gene safe” range for me Now, I started Seroquel at 25mgs for insomnia when I moved to college in September of 2022, then went off because I was fearing the low dose was making me manic. Then around late November I started taking it again because I was having horrible OCD-related intrusive thoughts brought on by finals and not getting into the BFA musical theatre program at my school this year. By December I upped to about 50mgs and it was able to calm my anxiety and take the edge off the thoughts. But now here we are in March and i’m wondering if it’s doing too much while also hindering my school performance and day-to-day life. Things i’ve noticed -Over sedation & daytime drowsiness (horrible time waking up and moving in the morning) -Random bouts of intense depression that only last for about 10-20 minutes at a time multiple random times a day (feels like a splitting episode) - Not wanting to be intimate with my boyfriend -Indigestion, nausea, vomiting, gassiness (literally projectile vomited into a garbage can without any warning and hardly anytime to move myself to the garbage can) -Forgetting appointments, assignments, self-care routines, checking grades, etc -Socially withdrawing more -Short moments of hyper-focus followed by loss of concentration spanning for hours (sometimes relating to being forgetful, hyper focused on an assignment and forgot I had to log into my therapy appointment) -Feeling numb -Massive weight gain and appetite increase (I wouldn’t say i’m binge eating but my appetite has increased and so had my weight in such a little amount of time) -Severe Muscle fatigue (i’ve noticed it’s become increasingly harder to lift weights and even do cardio workouts which are things I was able to do before) -Random Muscle soreness without intense physical activity -Feeling overly agitated and aggressive at times sometimes over the littlest things Are these all possible side-effects? And should I actually consider switching meds? I’m just so lost with this right now because I do not want my intrusive thoughts and insomnia to return but I also do not want to be feeling this horrible all the time while also seeing my grades drop
