I’m scared to try mood stabilizers as this is all new to me, what are some pros and cons?

Pros are finding one with the least amount of troubling side effects. I took mood stabilizers when I was first diagnosed and was over medicated to the point I felt numb emotionally. I was just going through each day with no outbursts but also no meaningful anything. I'm sure if I could have had my script adjusted or found something else I would have done better but I had a bad doctor then.

Be sure to have a good psychiatrist! Honestly, having a psychiatrist that listens to you and fully understands is a lifesaver. I’ve dealt with far too many awful psychiatrists :’) … + make sure you know what you’re taking, and what the risks and side effects are too, I’ve been prescribed a couple of medications with awful side effects and it was really agonizing - just talk to your doctor asap
i was on lamotrigine because i have bipolar 2 and it was soooo helpful, but i got the bad skin reaction side affect. had to stop taking it 😥
