Any tips for wedding planning with crohns? I’m newly diagnosed (therefore it’s not managed yet) and my wedding is 6 months away, and I’m panicking.

It doesn’t seem helpful, but managing stress is super important. That’s because high levels of cortisol (a stress hormone) cause an inflammatory response. Managing stress can be really hard, but it does help

Congrats! Take anti-diarrhea and charcoal tabs for special events. Avoid alcohol, red meats, high fat/sugar, caffeine as it will go right through you. Prioritize sleep and rest as that can make diarrhea worse. Meditate/yoga in AM to help calm the system down. Do whatever you can to make the day low stress and ask lots of people for help. Pack extra undies, shorts under just in case - pick a dress that is easy to go to the bathroom in. No rule that says you need to be out all night - I’ve learned lack of sleep is the thing that sets off my Crohns the worst. Stay hydrated. Sneak off for breaks throughout the event as needed. It’s your day - prioritize what you need to do for yourself to enjoy the day - designate someone else to be hostess and make sure guests are happy so you can focus on you and your new spouse. Multi-vitamins, B12 for energy.

Something that has always been a top priority for me everywhere I go is that I have a safe bathroom to get to easily in an emergency, not sure if you have that problem, but I would suggest somewhere indoors with a bathroom that can accommodate you and your outfit. Good luck and congratulations on your upcoming marriage💕

Well the good news is weddings usually consist of a rehearsal where you practice how the vows and everything are worked out, but it depends on HOW you're getting married. What kind of wedding are you having? Catholic, Hindu, Jewish, non-religious? Each one has different approaches/traditions to the ceremony. If you're having a non-religious wedding, you are more in control of the pacing of the ceremony. So it can be as quick or as long as you need it to be. If you are having some sort of a religious/traditional wedding, you should be able to talk to them before the wedding date about your concerns. I would also reach out to your GI doctor and ask for advice from them as well. Best of luck and congrats!
