For some reason on the right side of my neck in the lower area every time I press down I feel like somethings popping in and out of place I don’t know if it’s a bone or not i had an X-ray and it didn’t show up and it feels odd when I touch that area , how should I tell my doctor about this without her suggesting another x-ray?

It may not be a bone, but a tendon or really tight muscle that's moving when you push it. If it's moving in and out of the same place and doesn't feel like it's really shifting much and the x-ray was normal, a tendon is a more likely culprit

@wise I do no X-ray are not always accurate so I’ll go with the mri to be on the safe side because Iv been experiencing other pain along with it and tendon pain shouldn’t be chronic I think mri is the best rout but thanks

@LixiKat tendon pain can absolutely be chronic. you can develop tendonitis anywhere you have tendons. good luck getting an MRI though, I spent two years fighting to get one, and then it wasn't even helpful! you may be sent for a CT scan before insurance will even think about covering an MRI. if the MRI is clear, follow up with rheumatology and/or neurology, because an orthopedist won't be any help if an MRI shows the problem isn't in your bones

I would get an mri because it could be a disc in your neck

@AshNichole ok and does an X-ray show that it can be a disc because it showed up nothing but I can feel it maybe I should talk to her about mri
