Just be you do what you want, put your insulin and blood meter in a small bag or backpack. Double check your carbs and when you feel bad check your blood sugar and if you are with friends just let them know.

i have days where i still don’t believe it. i’ve been diagnosed since august 2020 and the whole first year it didn’t sink in at all for me. i had points where i would break down because i understood the severity of my situation and yet still barely made an effort to be better. it all started to hit me after i started on a CGM, because i had access to how bad i was at controlling it at all times vs. i could neglect checking with a glucometer. it was really a slap in the face, but definitely one i needed. injections really sucked and made it harder for me since its not a pleasant experience and feels like a chore. but once i got a pump, i finally felt like i had some control over what i was doing. i 100% recommend CGM’s and Pumps if you don’t have them already, as it makes it a lot easier to maintain good sugars. it made it a lot easier on me mentally and physically.

It personally didnt take me til this year for it to actually sink in for me, and ive been diagnosed for almost 10 years now. It was when my eye doctor said i had the start of diabetic retinopathy. Since it sank in my A1C has went from 12.7 to 9. Im getting better, some days i relaps into my old habits of not checking or taking insulin. But it really was a wake up call
I just think of how many people would yell at me if I end up in the hospital for the third time this year...
