How much does loneliness influence your self harming?

I often get stuck in my head when I’m left alone, and my emotions form into one big blob of incoherent nonsense, so I feel every single emotion at once. It’s quite uncomfortable. A while ago I found the only way to silence the chaos was through self injury because it all just gets too loud. Although I’ve been clean for almost 3 months, the tendencies have really been taking a toll on me, as I’m not in school, my friends work and I don’t have a vehicle yet

For me lonlieness is a big trigger as I tend to overthink and then begin to spiral about it. But, i have been working on either reframing that lonlieness as both a temporary emotion and not reality and also reminding myself that just because i am alone doesn’t mean i have to be lonely. also for me a distraction is super helpful like watching tv, going for a walk or reaching out to people if i feel up to it. Always remember, that you are not alone and both that feeling and the urge to self harm will pass :)

being alone makes me overthink every little thing and that overwhelms me. so it started with just digging my nails into my arms and legs, then it turned into scratching, then stabbing myself with thumbtacks. i would say that feeling lonely almost directly affects my self harming. but i also think it has to do with me not having anyone to talk to about this.
