Alrighty, I don’t know what this is but I do this thing where I overthink casual conversations. Like, I’ll accidentally make eye contact with someone and then think about it a year after it even happened. Another example would be if I even had a small conversation with someone I can’t stop thinking about it for like 2 years or longer. Help?!?!

I always try to remember that the other person probably won’t remember the moment at all. I wish I had better advice besides just this, but it’s slowly started to work for me. There still are times I can’t stop thinking about it though

@otherworldgirl @mooneia yes, agreed! sometimes i find myself thinking about an embarrassing experience, but then i remember that people are too busy in their own heads to remember you or what you said or did. there actually are scientific studies about this. what helps too is to think vise versa; think to yourself about a moment someone ELSE did something embarrassing - how long has it been until YOU forgot about it? it’s the same thing. also, if you find yourself replaying unpleasant thoughts, try to immediately replace them with positive ones/change the subject. hope this helps. :)
