Brain zaps. Update about my Zoloft withdrawal: the drug is officially out of my body. Started Prozac Wednesday night, officially stopping Zoloft. Now that I’m off the drug I am experiencing electrical brain shocks triggered by eye movements, walking down steps, leg movement, head turning, literally any motion etc. I’m sure this is because of the medication change. How long does this usually last and how can I cope with this? Any self-remedies? Thanks guys :)

It’s been many many years that I went off of Zoloft so I don’t remember specifics. But coming off of Pristiq I had the same effects as you. The brain zaps were terrible and I just felt like shit. I was already on probs 40mg of Prozac (and also Wellbutrin) before I stopped the Pristiq completely, so I had meds still in me for sure. But for me, crappy feeling/zaps subsided completely after about 3-4 weeks. And since being on Prozac, I haven’t experienced any brain zaps or headaches at all, even when I’m late for my meds. But with Zoloft and Pristiq I had them any time I was late by even just a few hours. I just made my way up to 80mg, my final stopping dosage of Prozac, and it is perfect! I’ve been on a ton of different antidepressants before and Prozac has by far been the best. I consider Prozac and Vyvanse (for ADHD) to be life altering miracle drugs. As far as remedies, I found taking meclizine helpful with the brain zaps and head stuff. It’s and antihistamine but is also prescribed for dizziness/vertigo which is why I think it works. Also, peppermint helped (my) headache and stomach upset. Also, rest and quietness. I hope Prozac changes your life too! Good luck!
