How do you manage a depressive “episode”. Meaning- how do you pull yourself out of being down and low when there is nothing that caused the lowness feeling.

I have a couple things. One is trying some form of self care. Maybe journaling how you’re feeling, getting dressed, showering, or listening to music. Sometimes I also try to talk to someone, or even sit in silence with someone. I will just sit silently on the phone with my mom when I don’t want to talk but know that I need to be “around” someone, she just works or does whatever she was doing while I try to do some self care. If you struggle with self care I highly recommend the Finch app!

Showering. Showers always help me a little bit. Being kind to myself. Even if I just lay awake in bed all day, at least I'm awake and not sleeping. Basically forcing myself to always find a good thing out of the tough times. I've found that kindness to myself has helped the most and its much easier for me to get out of bed on those days because I don't see the day being filled with a negative mindset before its even started.

Do you have any pets? Spending time with animals helped me. Talk to a friend or family member, or therapist if you have one. Watch a good movie, read an interesting book, take a walk and notice your surroundings... Journal, as mentioned by Belugabear, or take a relaxing bath or shower.
