I am pretty sure my heart is going to burst out of chest! My anxiety is so intense right now and has been for 2 weeks now. I have tried several different medications. Does anyone have any suggestions about medications that really helped you?

I have been on all kinds of anti-anxiety meds but, I started taking Buspar at the beginning of the year and it absolutely saved my life. I don't have constant anxiety or panic attacks anymore AT ALL. It's great and it's not a benzo so doctors aren't weird about it and it isn't an SSRI so it doesn't have a bunch of side effects you have to worry about either. I am still prescribed a few Ativan per month just in case, but I haven't needed them in months. It's really been life-changing.

If it feels more like panic attacks caused by anxiety I would definitely recommend Xanax or Clonazepam but these medications are more so for an immediate relax feeling not for a long term solution. I’m also having difficulties finding something that helps with the daily panic and anxiety a lot of the meds just make me feel like a zombie. But when I have really bad attacks these meds seem to help but again are not usually prescribed long term.

@Moon14 same here ugh. All I take is Xanax because SSRI’s make me feel weird and I gain weight which adds to the anxiety! It’s been a struggle most of my life to try and find something that works long term. Let me know if you find something!!

The medication’s take a while to start working. About 4 to 6 weeks before you can see results. I would ask for an Ativan or benzo. In the meantime, if it’s that bad bad

@Amandadariano I have been on this for the past four months. I just keep getting worse. So I wanted to talk options with my doc.

@JustJessNess what do they have you on? They might need to increase the dosage
