Honestly it upsets me reading all these hope stories and “it’s really just a rash with a stigma”. This condition has almost killed me a few times in the 6 months I’ve had it. It has a stigma for a reason, because it’s debilitating. Nothing about me or my life is the same anymore. I will never have true freedom and I will not find anyone else who’s going to be willing to ruin their life for me also I don’t believe sex with this will be remotely enjoyable as I’m deathly afraid of contracting hsv 1 as well. I have no hope, I am completely devastated and this has ruined my life to the point I don’t care to live it anymore.

I'm curious if you or anyone on this thread have used antiviral medications and if so what your experience was? Only if you feel like sharing of course.
😥
I can definitely relate to your frustration. I feel that too. I just try to not think about it constantly

Also, I typed in living with herpes type 2 (cause that's what I have, genital) and I like the Alexandria girl. She's pretty good with giving tips and different vitamins to take. The first year will be the hardest, but after you learn your prodromal symptoms for herpes, it'll help you. Like I get pain right in my hip, kinda close to my groin area and I know to up the dosage on my vitamins so my outbreak won't be too bad. I take lysine (600mg) and monolaurin (600mg)...sometimes I'll double or triple the dosage depending on how I feel.

I'm sorry that it hospitalized you and hopefully you're able to get medicine for it. Also, there are herpes positive dating apps that you can try. And surprisingly, reddit...I searched herpes and a whole community thread popped up lol so that's been a little helpful but they can be negative sometimes so use it at your discretion.

I promise it gets better ❤️ I’m so sorry to hear it’s made you so poorly. Hassle your doctors until they help, DM me if you need someone to vent to. It put me in hospital so I understand it’s hard & upsetting

If you don’t mind me asking, how has it almost killed you? Can you share more details about your experience?
@QueenChronic I’m assuming it’s due to it attacking the immune system & leaving you vulnerable to other illnesses (example: pneumonia, hepatitis)

1 It is rarely life threatening. 2 If someone loves you, they will risk it. 3. It sucks but it doesn’t have to destroy your life.

@Strawberryfields2951 I think maybe commenting with a bit more sympathy wouldn’t go a miss

@Shebear13 I'm curious if you take any antiviral medication(s) for this?
@Shebear13 if it’s not too much I’d love to hear more about your birthing experience. It’s left me very anxious about when I eventually want to start a family & how it may impact my children. Thank you
