Starting College as a Single Mom: Feeling Guilty and Stressed

@heycamila I'm sorry to hear your mom has had a hard time, I hope things go well for both of you moving forward! It's okay to support her but it might be better for your whole family's mental health if she found a job or hobby to draw joy from, too. I don't know the situation so I can't speak to how possible that is but it might help invite other supportive people into her life as well if she gets involved in activites she enjoys (crafting, writing, music, volunteering, religious things if you practice any, axe throwing idk lol, etc). There are even support groups for empty nesters and parents with college students, things like that if you think that might be beneficial. Maybe she could meet some people who are going through the same thing. It's a hard transition for both children and parents when kids get old enough to move out - the dynamic shifts and suddenly the parent has room for things other than constant care giving for the first time in 18+ years. I think your mom might just need some time to figure out how she wants to fill the space, ya know? It's an ongoing process but it's clear you care about her so I'm sure you guys will make it through together
