I’ve been dealing with migraines since I was a kid. I have at least 12 migraine days a month. I have a low-grade headache every day, and alternate acetaminophen, ibuprofen, and naproxen but it barely helps. I’ve tried topamax, depakote, and propranolol as preventatives. And I used Imitrex and Relpax as onset meds, but they don’t always works. Fioricet works sometimes, but only lasts a short while (2-4hrs). I’ve also done chiropractic and acupuncture treatment. Any thoughts or recommendations?

Emgality paired with topiramate as preventative and nurtec paired with eletriptan as needed has been a huge help. Find a headache specialist that you trust, because there are so many things you haven’t tried

I have also had migraines since I was a kid & I’ve tried, what feels like everything! Have you looked into or thought about preventatives like emgality or aimovig? I was on emgality for 15 months & it worked so well, however towards the last of the time I was taking it, it stopped working for me, so I switched to aimovig. Aimovig was good for the first couple months, it really helped but then I realized when I got attacks they were absolutely brutal, so I stopped with it. I’m currently taking fioricet & imitrex. Fioricet kills it but only for a little bit 😥 when I take the imitrex it makes my head feel heavy & like I have a weight on me, but it kills it - only if I catch it in time. Good luck 💕

I have tried different triptans and none have worked for me. Nurtec has been the only thing that helps my migraines but my insurance doesn’t want to cover it… right now I’m trying ubrelvy but nurtec worked so much better for me (and with no side effects!)

Have you tried changing your diet? No processed foods, No fast foods, No added sugar, No gluten? Maybe even No dairy. It's worked wonders for me! Blue light blocking glasses are a must and plenty of sleep and water too! Peppermint oil is always good. Go to an eye doc to see if it's eye issues and or go to the dentist to see if it's a teeth or jaw issue. Don't give up! Keep pushing for answers!

I’ve also had migraines since I was a kid. I got my very first one at an extremely 90s birthday party at a roller rink where there were strobe lights lol. I use gabapentin and propranolol to treat other conditions, but they both help with my migraines. I also had a naturopath put me on high levels of magnesium glycinate (that form specifically) and that helped as well. I’ve used topomax as well, but it intensified my brain fog and the weight loss side effect was not sustainable as someone who already struggles to keep any weight on.

Emgality monthly injections have been a life saver. I went from 2/3 a week to only 2/3 a month.

I totally feel your pain. I recently went to a headache specialist and they put me on Qulipta for daily preventative and Ubrelvy as a rescue med. They’re both newer meds, I think Qulipta has only been FDA approved for a few months, but they’re working amazingly so far. You should also ask your doctor about trying a Nerivio device. It didn’t work for me personally but I think it’s a really cool non-medication option.

Butterfly 100 percent on the barometric pressure. It's been so stormy here n the storm coming n leaving causes the worse migraines

I have found that changes in the barometric pressure trigger my migraines. I have tried pretty much every medicines that everyone has already mentioned. But thanks for the suggestions. Very helpful!

I get b12 shots those help and I take magnesium and potassium. The magnesium is the most important. And ibuprofen 800 mg. But I have sumatriptan that helps occasionally

I appreciate your feedback! I’ve been on different SSRIs/SNRIs over time, and I’m currently on Effexor which is sometimes also used for migraines. I don’t know if it makes much a difference to be honest—but it’s good to remember that other meds (like not created for migraine) can sometimes be equally effective. The only triggers I’ve identified are pretty normal, like not enough water/sleep/food and eye strain. But I haven’t done an extensive food trigger type self-test (I’d always forget or give up after like a 4 days of food logging 😆) and it’s something that couldn’t hurt exploring more! Thanks for sharing:)

I'm not super familiar with alternate names of drugs, so I apologize of I suggest something you've already tried! I'm currently on Citalopram which seems to be working pretty well. I'm also on Sumatriptan as a prescription painkiller. Are you aware of any triggers? Some migraines can be food related. I know if I have something with a lot of sugar, it can trigger a migraine for me.
