Does anyone know if Lupron and Orilissa is the same thing? If they aren’t, are they similar?

they’re in the same drug class: GnRH (so same mechanic) and usually for endo. i think the only difference is that lupron is an injection, orilissa is a med. i’m starting orilissa soon so i’m praying it suppresses my period but also helps with pain

@100percent_k and @Asia42 Thank you for your response! I was wondering because i’ve taken Orilissa before as a treatment for endo and it was TERRIBLE. I had very bad reactions to that medicine. I’m also going through the process of freezing my eggs and one of the drugs they’re going to use is leupron and i’m nervous bc i’ve heard bad things about that as well

@1lovemyheatingp8d I personally would heavily question it and ask if letrozole is an option instead. Letrozole at least is a pill form so you can stop it any time, the lupron you have stuck in you

They are classified slightly differently, but do they same thing by putting you into chemical menopause. It can help with period pain, however it will not shrink or help with spread of disease as endo makes its own estrogen and these meds only stop the ovaries

They are classified as different drug types, but they both block/reduce hormones that trigger the making of estrogen. Orilissa is an oral tablet and Lupron is an injection. Both can stop periods
