Does GERD make you feel out of breath? Like you can’t catch it and when you get up it just feels like your heart is pounding out of your chest? I’ve been having a really bad week with this and it just feels like I’m having a heart attack, but they did a cardiac work up on me and everything was normal. It’s just a scary feeling and I didn’t know if that’s normal or not

Yes, Bcs it gets into your airways and causes asthma like symptoms. Also known as airway reflux. I get the same thing sometimes.

I have the same issue but I also have vertigo and asthma so all Dr's I've asked about it say the dizziness is from my vertigo, sheet if breath is from an asthma flare up amd then the lump in my throat is from my acid reflux. They just hit at all the same time

GERD does do this to me sometimes. For me it is Esophageal Spasms (kind of like my throat is cramping) and they feel just like I've been told a heart attack feels. The spasms give me a tight chest, shortness of breath, and intense pain. Sometimes they feel more like an air bubble sitting on my ribs. Long-term acid reflux control has helped immensely because this can be brought on or exacerbated by uncontrolled GERD through the acid damaging the esophagus. I use pantoprazole daily and it helps so so much.

@RedCollar15 I had the chest pain once and shortness if breath and after spending hours hooked up to machines in the ER I was told it was something to do with inflammation along the muscles of m ribs having to do with my argues amd asthma acting up

I experience systems like this as well but it isn't from GERD my doctor and I are trying to diagnose it. I would suggest bringing it up to your doctor and they can better help to discover if this is a more mental or physical health problem.

That sounds more like anxiety/panic attack! The lump in your throat is because of Gerd

I really don't think that's GERD. Is it just when you stand, do you feel dizzy and/or nauseated when that happens. Are there other triggers you have noticed?

@Jack_in_a_blanket I do feel dizzy when I get up, but then again I haven’t been able to eat as much and drink because of this episode.

@Shine.Of.Rae And I have that lump in my throat every time I swallow, like when you have acid reflux
