I feel like all the meds I’ve tried have literally just made me get worst then I get off I feel light again but not anxiety relief to function. I’m so over it Idek what to do anymore

Pristiq worked well for me for depression, but at the time I had undiagnosed OCD and it didn’t help with that at all.

@anxious, antidepressants are the type of drug that also treats anxiety. Benzos are for anxiety but can be extremely addictive so they found another class that works for anxiety without the addiction.

@ anxious I'd like to say my bff, she took pristiq after a year of med switching & it has been a life saver for her. Her experience with it mad me feel better about trying it. Even though it's not currently the med for me. It helped me & I dont regret taking it.

@sleeplessness I've wondered about gabapentin, I have a lot of nerve pain/sensations with my anxiety. Especially in my head. Was bad in my arms & feet but pristiq helped me with that. I am on a benzo. I reluctantly started taking it as I couldn't deal with the physical anxiety anymore. Glad I gave in, cause I felt awful. I'm not having much trouble with just starting to reduce the dose, hoping to be free of them soon too. Will likely keep a rx for as needed. Thanks for info, definitely helpful! Hoping you find your right combo & feel better soon!

Pristiq wasn't the right med for me, but I'm happy I tried it and gave it a few weeks before I stopped it.

@sleeplessness19, what med are they adding for anxiety?

I was very anxious to take meds too, zoloft was awful for me, started pristiq 25mg 2 weeks, first few days anxiety was tough. Then started getting better. Ended up on 50mg dose, which helped, but being a snri the norepinephrine was too much for me & now I'm no longer taking pristiq. It helped get me out of a depression. But gave me subsequent anxiety. (Nothing as bad as it was b4 taking it) I'm trying to get off the ativan now to see if I need anything at all daily. I'm not sure I can, so my next med we will try is viibryd. Heard good things about it. It doesn't have the norepinephrine in it, so hoping that it will do the trick. Everyone is different so it may or may not be for you, but I'd just give it a few days/weeks, start small & see if it helps. Takes a month or more to really know if it works though. Good luck! Hope you gwt the relief you need.
