Anyone else suffer from T1D and adhd? It’s difficult to manage. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I have both adhd and t1d. Honestly, it's difficult at times, but you manage. I formed habits for myself when I was first diagnosed and it helped immensely. Alarms, carb counts, etc. I'm still working out the kinks myself but it gradually gets easier over time.

Yeah, I have impulsively around food and will zone out when I'm choosing what to eat or dosing sometimes, do things really on autopilot and make poor decisions. It takes 10 seconds to do something I'll regret for the next 4 hours, or the rest of the day sometimes. It's been making me so stressed. I just set a bunch of alarms on my phone to remind me to test through the day and check in with myself, and trying to build habits with dosing and eating.

Yes! I have both along with ASD and CKD and Celiac disease lol. I’m effing exhausted all the time. I was Mia-diagnosed as a teen at first because they kept attributing my ADHD to my T1D….as in they blamed my inattentiveness on blood sugars and I lost out on an accurate diagnosis as far as the ASD too because I was so good at masking- but when I would have meltdowns, social burn out etc… it would be blamed again on blood sugars. Not sure if you went through that too where your ADHD symptoms were first blamed on your T1D.

I do not have T1D, but adhd and my phone alarms are my best friend. I set them immediately. I don’t say in my head I need to set an alarm and then forget. Just do it right then. I hope that’s helpful. It’s hard to manage all the things.
