Hello . I’m 68 year old with Sickle Cell SC genotype. Believe it or not I was 62 years old when diagnosed when I had my first crises visiting Vegas. Imagine my shock. Anyway, currently not on any SC drugs. I manage with Epsom Salt bath, Essential Oil and Tylenol as needed. I think I need more so since Fl Med Marj is legal so going to look into it .. Anyone has any experience with Cannabis. Not open to smoking but maybe oils or topicals..

@Positivecc cutting out items high in sodium, no longer eating pork and I rarely eat beef. Eating a lot of fruits and vegetables, eating things high in water content as well as folic acid. Don't drink soda, rarely even drink juice, try and drink a gallon of water a day although I don't always meet that goal. Intermittent fasting, started with 12:12 (eating within 12 hrs of a day and not within the other 12) moved to an 18:6, now hope to try 24:24. I use the supplement juice plus for added vitamins, nutrients, fruits, veggies, etc daily. As well as a greens supplement, folic acid, when in pain I utilize hot packs, heating pads, hot baths with Epsom salt, guided meditation and visualization (sometimes I'll listen to one's made specifically for pain if it's really bad), using the IV clinic for fluids, cbd oil/gummies. I went from being on very high doses of narcotics (long acting & breakthrough) to completely cutting out breakthrough and slowly weaning myself off of long acting. From being In the hospital every 6 to 8 weeks for 2+ weeks at a time, getting transfusions, exchanges, surgeries, etc. to Not having been hospitalized for over a year

Hi! I can only imagine how shocked you were. I’m not currently on any medications but I do take pain meds when needed, which isn’t that often. I’ve changed my diet which helped a lot and water will be your best friend 😊 btw I am currently 30 and was diagnosed at birth

I was diagnosed at 17 but struggled all through childhood with what I now know were crisis. I am now 34. I used nothing but medication at 1st and honestly I was worse off, when I started to lower my dosages of narcotics and use more natural remedies, change my diet, as well as using gummies or oil, I was hospitalized less and I feel better overall.
