so my insurance pays for me to have transportation to doctors appointments and the last couple times i had the same guy and he was fine (polite but quiet, perfect). but today i have a lady and she’s nice but my appointment was in a building that says “cancer centre.” and she asked if i had cancer, to which i said no, and then she started to tell me that i look healthy but stopped herself. yes, i look able-bodied but i’m not. today i didn’t use my cane (which i regret now for different reasons) but being told i look healthy just bothers me

Yes, the: "you look so healthy" or the "you're so young" talks like it's somehow helpful. I got tired of hearing it when I was diagnosed with kidney failure. It was more particularly frustrating when I take a medication for one thing and a health professional would assume another. For example I used to take depakote for bipolar which is was designed for and I would be asking "do you take difficult for seizures?" Or I would take aspirin for pain and I would have a nurse ask do you have heart attacks?" It's frustrating that they would make a diagnosis completely on a medication I take. I have no problem telling a driver to mind their own business and not so many words the drivers themselves are not particularly HIPAA compliant for the most part so I would be say "I don't want to talk about it" or "I'd appreciate you concentrate on driving" you are not obligated to talk to them if you don't want to.

I’m sorry. Some people are inconsiderate sometimes and assume things without reason.
