Hi guys ! I was wondering if anyone else grinds their teeth due to anxiety/depression/etc ? I do, and now wear a night guard.

      what do you do about it ? Like do you have a night guard or do anxiety meds help ? Or nothing ?

        I had a night guard but I didn't like it. I should use it, but I don't

    I don't grind my teeth, but I do clench my teeth when I sleep

      has that affected your teeth in a bad way ? Like shifting ?

    I've been stressed out grinding my teeth since I was a kid. It's actually shifted my bite a bit so my jaw lines up just a little crooked. I've tried night guards but they were to uncomfortable to sleep with. Now that I'm older I seem to clench my teeth rather than grind them. Now that I'm more stable and less anxious, the clenching has lessened. I also work on relaxing my jaw when I notice myself clenching.

      may I ask what you do to relax ? I’ve been trying different things but nothing seems to help. I feel like if I could stress less, then I wouldn’t have to wear the guard anymore or at least not so often

    I practice relaxing my muscles from my forhead, my eyes, jaw and cheeks, chin and neck, down into my clavicle and to my shoulders. I also slow my breathing down. It's something I have to take a few minutes to concentrate on and takes practice. Less stressing has definitely helped me with my clenching, but I still catch myself clenching in traffic and during tense situations. That's where practicing the muscle relaxing helps.
