I’m diagnosed with bipolar (I &II - most recent diagnosis bipolar I) but noticed I relate to a lot of people with ADHD and how their brains works. I’ve been looking at hacks/coping skills for ADHD symptoms and they are so much more useful for me. Has anyone else noticited this as well or found helpful things or info for bipolar with a lot of ADHD symptoms. I did find that the two are closely related. I’ve also never responded well to meds for anxiety, depression, or bipolar. If someone could help shed light that’d be great! Honestly I feel like on a day to day basis I’m dealing with more ADHD symptoms and that affects my mood the most. Since I was diagnosed with bipolar a long time ago and lack of trust for psychiatric diagnosis I take that with a grain of salt. As in I’m still not entirely confident that’s completely accurate but seems most likely. Can anyone else relate or have input to share?

Update for anyone relating- I talked to my psychiatrist about this after posting and she said I do have the signs according to DSM of ADHD and is possible they are co-occurring. She put in a referral for me to get proper testing for ADHD, as well as pharmacogenetic testing which apparently tells what medications my body will react well or adversely with. So hopefully some promising answers soon.

I've noticed the same exact thing about myself here over the last few months ... so idk what I am ... I just know what I've been diagnosed with

Definitely noticed this. I've brought up some very similar questions in therapy and my therapist pointed that C-ptsd symptoms can look like ADHD, which makes the diagnosis harder. I'm working on getting my diagnosis reassessed, since I've noticed somethings that could indicate some level of autism (but then again, C-ptsd) and a lot of things that scream ADHD. Meanwhile, I'll keep on cross-referencing coping skills and keeping what works in my back pocket. I don't care what it's for... If I find something that works, I'm keeping it. (Maybe look into magnesium and l-theanine for anxiety, these supplements have helped me so much over the last year)

@SunnyJoy thanks for your reply! I’m diagnosed with PTSD but I’ve had those symptoms (obviously worsened with the events tho) since I was a kid that they seem normal to me as in this is just how I’ve always functioned and put it on the back burner. I will look back into coping skills for that and C-PTSD and see if I can pick up useful tools. And I’m with you on just trying to figure out what works best for me personally. I started taking magnesium (multiple forms) and l-Theanine and noticed they help with my anxiety a lot too. Again that’s for the reply!
