No. In rare cases, yes, you can regress, but that's like 0.001 percent of cases. I think often people who get a later diagnosis, and even some younger people, like teens or kids, experience what may seem like regression, but is actually then just being more true to themselves and stopping masking. It happened to me, it can be frustrating, I have things I've lost functioning in, like housework. But honestly I am way happier now than I was pre-diagnosis

i used to think ive regressed but ive realised its just ive been slowly unmasking and realising how much my autism really has been affecting me, this is why i find diagnosis fundamental because it helps you understand yourself more and let the mask down and learn how to help yourself more, it gets worse before it gets better. even though i seem “worse” im actually more stress free because now im not supressing myself and im more comfortable in the things i do i.e stimming and acting “childish” because now i dont just feel weird compared to others i feel now that there is an explanation behind it and that’s okay, its just who i am, so dont worry youre doing great you’re just learning more about yourself and loving yourself more, you should be proud ❤️❤️❤️

It’s hard to say in my case…. Me bipolar is getting exponentially worse, so it feels like my autism is responding to that…. Any advice from bp1/asd combo people would be greatly appreciated….
@Blackolives8 this is what I’m going through now. I’ve been more non verbal and wasn’t sure if what was going on at first, then realized I’m just un-masking all my traits that I suppressed all my life

@honeylemon yup!! Honestly my advice if you'll take it is, don't fret. Don't worry, no need to think you're going to fall away in a black hole of isolation (I worried that for a bit). I think it's a time to rejoice in YOU. And all that sappy stuff like LOVE URSELF. lololoolol. But seriously.... Love yourself. Enjoy being able to not respond verbally to people. Do more of your special interests. Stim. Like your totally worth it.
