Hi. I have been suffering from anxiety, depression, and being obese since 2016. I am 24 years old. I have had 2 suicidal attempts. One in 2018 when I was away at college in Idaho, and one in September of 2021. I went to the hospital for a week in September, and I just haven’t been myself ever since.

FutureNurse, I'm a former nurse. I've been plagued by depression most of my adult life. I've never made a suicide attempt but I've thought about it a lot. When my mom passed away, from natural causes, I experienced the pain of her loss. It was at that time that I promised myself that I would never commit suicide. I had 2 sons that were teens at the time. With the pain I was feeling at losing my mom, I knew I would die someday and my sons would be hurting just as I was hurting then. I promised myself and my sons that I would never cause them to feel that pain with the added pain of the suicide too. Just before Covid began, I underwent a treatment for depression. It was not simply therapy. It is called Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, or TMS. It is a very huge time commitment. The treatment is 5 days a week for six weeks! But because of this treatment, I have a completely new outlook on life. I feel better than I ever have. I still feel some depression at times but it's nothing like it was before. I don't know if you are seeing a therapist or psychiatrist. I would encourage you to seek help. I would further encourage you to research the treatment of TMS. Look it up online and read up on it. It is usually covered by insurance. I wish you well and I encourage you to reach out to me if you would like.

just to provide a different story, i went through TMS twice and it worked for only a short time before i relapsed back into depression. i by no means disparage TMS because it changed my life, just only for a few months at a time. but my situation is uncommon; TMS works for most if you can put the time in (as Eyorespal mentioned, it’s a big commitment). I have recently gone through Esketamine treatment (ketamine therapy) which has worked remarkably well so far. feel free to reach out to me as well, i am happy to talk about my experiences :-)
