(to clarify- i am not sure AT ALL if i have did/osdd, im just here to collect info and figure some things out!) how do i know if i am age-regressing or if i've developed a little? lately ive been feeling very small and it takes active effort to talk normally instead of in a childish voice. all i want to do is watch kids movies and hold stuffed animals or play pretend or dolls or dress-up. i don't think i have "voices" in my head (i do have thoughts that aren't mine, but they have no sound and i cant tell if its due to hallucinations or intrusive thoughts or an alter? also idk if it happens frequently enough to Count.)

disclaimer: This is just my experience. I had an ex gf who would agere. She would be like herself, just younger and softer. I have child alters. At first, we may seem similar. The biggest differences in my case compared to hers was she was still “her” and for some reason i wasnt just a young “me”. It is like im a different entity all together. Her memory is consistent when she is in an agere state. When a child alter fronts for us, their memory is altered. They dont have the same clear memory I usually have, and talks about having different childhood memories as well. Basically agere is You being young and small but an alter is more separate from you, HOWEVER in some systems (like Osdd 1a) there arent huge differences between alters, but still amnesia. If you are concerned about yourself, i would start to look at how is effects your memory, if at all. I really only noticed when my partners would tell me about things “little me” did that i couldnt recall. I hope the best for you!

I don't know a lot about the agere community, but I do know a lot of people age regress because of trauma related things. This does nor necessarily mean you have DID. As for thr thoughts that aren't yours, that can be a multitude of things, like you listed. This is often why DID folks get misdiagnosed with a plethora of things before the actual DID diagnosis! DID alters don't always have to have distinct voices, especially if there are alters trying to hide the fact that they are there to the host. For a long time I thought I was talking to myself in my head. People said that was normal so I didn't think that much of it. Until later when the thoughts turned into voices and became more noticeable as separate entities. As for frequency, alters don't have to front or cofront frequently to be there. We have little alters that almost never come close to front. That doesn't mean they're not there. I'd say to keep monitoring your symptoms. Write down or journal some of these foreign thoughts. Try speaking out in your head and asking questions to these thoughts. Try not to jump to conclusions too soon because DID/OSDD is a hefty diagnosis and can be hard to handle. I would suggest also trying to find a therapist that is a trauma specialist. They usually know how to handle DID related things!
