So a couple nights ago I received some really threatening messages that basically said that this person was going to come to where I live and shoot my son in his bed. This person is someone I’ve met three times two years ago. One of those times he showed up to my apartment door uninvited at 2am and I threatened him and told him to never trespass on my property again. (My family lives in a gated community and we never told him to what apartment number we were in) I’ve filed a police report but they told me they can’t do anything until he actually does something which is so anxiety inducing and terrifying. It’s been impossible to sleep the past couple nights and I’m terrified to leave the house with my son. Any advice?

@Cece7 Might be worth looking into shelter options or something where you can live away from home so they won’t know where you are
That’s crazy they claim you can’t do anything. I’ve called police before they said if there was any evidence of a threat we could at least get a protection order. Have you looked into those? And maybe getting some ring cameras set up or staying in a hotel or somewhere this person couldn’t find you?
I forgot the term, but private protection (private carry) is $60 for the class then like $120 for the permit and then buy a gun. Oooor if that's too much money, buy a big shotgun and put it by the front door. Don't answer the door without the gun.
@Lucilou We live with my dad and he has many guns. He taught me how to load and fire them when I was young. The problem is my depression gets so bad that I end up suicidal. So those weapons are hidden from me. I wouldn’t feel comfortable having complete access to something I could seriously harm myself with just because I feel so low.
@Ms.Piggie My family was the same and I've had my guns hidden from me when I'm low but for me knowing their there helps settle some anxiety I have. Even if I have no idea where they are. But I understand completely.
That's terrifying I'm so sorry you have someone like that in your life! Can I suggest you get a tazer or other forms of protection
