Does anyone have an overactive bladder? (Frequency/urgency) If so, how do you cope? What do you take?

I have had IC since I was a child. I pee between 20-40 times a day. It might sound counter intuitive, but one thing I do is drink a lot of fluids to keep my pee diluted, so it hurts less, as reducing fluids doesn't reduce my frequency whatsoever. This also makes problem foods far far less irritating. Gabapentin helps me sleep through half the night, I wake up and pee, then take my 2nd dose and go back to sleep. Sleeping through the night has been a life changer. A lot of how I cope is lifestyle adjustments- there are things I just can't do and enjoy (going to the movies, grocery shopping, long car rides, etc) but there are easy adjustments like requesting restaurant table near the restroom, renting movies at home, bringing a camping potty while camping, that allow me to live a fairly normal life.

hi! IC haver, been dealing with UTI for past 2 years every month & developed IC in march this year. i typically go 10-15 times a day, 1-3 times a night. very annoying, but unavoidable since i get horrible bladder pain if i dont go. ive been on tramadol, Amitriptyline, phenazopyridine, and probably more that i dont remember… they “work” but not long term. i put work in quotes since i stopped taking them since their side effects suck. ive been taking cbd gummies for around a month now and they work probably 3x as stronger and longer than anything ive taken. i still am struggling to cope with the fact that i have to drop so many food i like to keep my bladder and myself comfortable, so its still a major change and learning process. i do really recommend cbd though. the only bad thing about it is that it keeps me asleep so im unable to get up when i need to void so i end up hurting the next day.

I do! I also have a condition that refrains me from being able to take most medications, so I actually had a cystoscopy done. It was very easy and quick, and has taken care of OAB and my IC for the last four months!

Hi! I have been taking Myrbetric for the over active bladder part of IC as well as Flomax to help with completely emptying the bladder.
