I’ve found if I start small, and make it enjoyable and not so much as a task or chore, it’s easier to stick to. For instance, I used to try journaling every day, but seeing those huge blank pages became overwhelming. I found a 5-year diary instead with just enough room to write a couple sentences per day. I’ve been able to stick to it for almost two years! And it’s fun! Another example was weight loss. Trying to make drastic changes was overwhelming and I actually gave up right away and gained weight. Instead, I picked a reasonable calorie limit of 2000 calories a day and just focused on counting calories, not changing my diet much, and I’ve lost 22 pounds. It’s like an automatic routine now. Because it’s fun and like a game every day.

people with adhd thrive on routines, but it gets boring fast. what i do instead is plan out my day the day to week before and it creates a more interesting schedule bc it’s always changing!

I wish I knew. I have adhd and autism. My autism loves routine but my adhd makes it incredibly hard to remember and stick to it...which makes me anxious a bunch
