Hi! I’ve been suffering from Fibromyalgia for as long as I can remember. I was diagnosed in 2016. What it has impacted in my most is my ability to walk. It burns to go up stairs, the ache of strolling has become unbearable, and I end up exhausted because of the effort I put into walking. I use a cane but I’m considering getting myself a wheelchair. To me, it’s a big leap. I barely use my cane anyway because my internalized ableism is sooo bad. But when I do use my cane it gives me some, but not enough relief. Would I benefit from a wheelchair?

My fibro leaves me exhausted and in so much pain I can't leave the house without my wheelchair now! It's been a huge lifesaver tbh. I got it in 2017 and have been slowly using it more and more. Also, there's no rule that you have to use it all the time every time! It's up to you - that mindset helped me to take the leap. And I agree, internalized abeism is awful for these things, but decorating my wheelchair helped me with that. I got rainbow spoke covers and stickers for the clothing guards! Hope this helps :)
