My psychotic episode in 2012 was far and away the most traumatic experience of my life. I can’t make sense of it and understand I may never. However, it is a huge part of my history and one I want to share, both as a way for me to process and just to be known as part of my lived experience. Tips or experience welcome!

As a person that went through a couple of episodes that left a mark, I can sympathize with you. Definitely do share it with people who you are sure they understand psychosis from a medical perspective. Make sure the people you share with you know will not use the info to sabotage you in any way shape or form. When it comes to psychosis many people associate it with being “crazy” and people are judgmental so be mindful that some people are just uneducated. You can also share it anonymously on the web and see if you are able to find closure or a sense of peace after sharing it. Mental health Professionals who are informed about psychotic disorders can be a tremendous help if you don’t already have one.
