hi. i'm a uni student and have been for some time. finals are over and i head home in the next couple of days for christmas break. i won't be around my support system (my friends here) nor have the space away from family. i'm afraid my suicidal ideations will flare up real bad over the next month or so. they have progressively worsened this year as it is, and i'm not in a good place mentally right now. i've only really held on by intentionally overworking and giving myself no space to feel my emotions in the heat of the uni term. when my poor mental health did catch up to me, i had my friends to keep me anchored. that'll all be different for the next few weeks. i'm afraid i'll spiral this month, suffer panic attacks during which i won't have friends to lean on, and fall deeper into my years-long self harm habits. ...i'm scared of what i might do to myself. any advice?

Of course if it is absolutely to much to take care of on your own call a hotline. Blahtherapy is an option as well, these are real people willing to help in the moment **they are NOT counselors. If a counselor is what you think you need, but you also need someone on the spot- I've heard better help let's you text message your therapist/counselor throughout the week. And if youre open to it, ASMR of people helping through depression and anxiety helps me. Of course if none of that works and you don't feel like you can stop yourself- PLEASE call emergency services.

As for harmful or negative thoughts- sometimes you have to create a mental safe space. Headphones! Take a walk. Go some sketching. Yoga, stretching, deep breathing- something that is going to sooth you and slow your mind down or prepare you for what is to come.

Make a list of all of the places you feel you can escape to. The library, a local coffee shop, a diner, a park etc. You dont have to spend a lot of money. A lot of coffee shops let you stay the whole day, you could get a free water and hunker down in a booth with their wifi. If you have a car, make a portable safe space in your back seat or trunk. Add a blanket, some battery powered Christmas lights, a pillow, some snacks, and something to drink.
