My depression has been killing me. I’ve been crying and my bipolar has been out of control. I just don’t know what to do about it. It’s like I’m not happy with my life at all. I’ve had some personal issues and including my phone being shut off due to paying rent and it’s like I can’t even do that right. Did I do the right thing? Can the community suggest any mood stabilizers besides Zoloft and seroquel?

Zoloft isn’t a mood stabilizer it’s an Antidepressant Seroquel is an Atypical Antipsychotic. In your current state of being are you more depressed than manic?

in my experience seroquel made me infinitely more depressed,, basically all the antipsychotics I tried did that actually lol also zoloft might as well be sugar pills, it seems to do nothing for anyone, me included the only meds I've really seen a difference on are lithium and wellbutrin lithium helps A LOT with suicidal/self harm thoughts and feelings of worthlessness. the only problems are that you have to be at least relatively ok with needles/blood/having your blood drawn to get your lithium levels checked, and some of the side effects can be pretty miserable and wellbutrin slingshotted me into the worst manic episode I've ever had so it definitely made me happy but it also made me end up hospitalized

First of all, I’m sorry you’re going through this. I’ve been in depressive ruts like this, and it truly can be difficult to get out of them, as the depression can cloud your thinking and judgment. However, if your depression is largely circumstantial, I’d advise you to focus your attention away from medicine, as the medicine alone won’t help. Therapy can do wonders, if you have access to it and can afford it. I’d also recommend taking time to do things you enjoy doing, even if it’s something that doesn’t cost any money or doesn’t seem that great but still brings you joy. I’d also recommend journaling, as it’s been proven that making that mind body connection with your emotions helps you process them better, which can help you better cope with the feelings.

You should talk to your psychiatrist and change your medication! For me personally Wellbutrin was the only antidepressant that worked for me, and risperidone was what took me out of a really bad depressive episode, but I had to stop it because of the side effects. I am back at a moderate depressive episode and I started taking lamotrigine. I read a lot about it and it seems like the best long-term medication to treat bipolar depression, so I am hopeful that it will help me

Hi there I feel your pain, i’ve been depressed my whole life chronic depression they say. I have been on numerous medication‘s not with Great success. Years ago I was on Celexa low-dose for about two years did not really think it helped then continue to be on numerous meds. Recently I went back on Celexa at a higher dose and it has helped tremendously with ideations and feeling happy. I do not cry much anymore and really focusing on me and my health. I do take Seroquel 25 mgs at night to help me relax and fall asleep probably need to bump that up to 50 but I have found finally a good balance of meds. Investigate the Celexa. I hope this was helpful and you take care of yourself. Here any time talk.
