I got the results back from my neck, mid back and lower back MRI’s. I feel like it would make more sense to feel relieved because I was told that it looks like Degenerative Disc Disorder. Instead, though, I feel terrified and alone. I’m honestly not sure if this is the case or not, but it feels like I’m vastly more motivated in figuring things out with my health and body than my doctors are. I’m also not trying to say that it definitely isn’t Degenerative Disc Disorder - either way, though, there is enough other stuff going on chronically with my body that doesn’t seem to concern my doctors. I’m begging for something to change in a positive direction but I feel like I’m coming up empty.

To keep moving don’t stop. (Do what you can everyday.) And definitely sleep hygiene, eat healthy because it does matter. Massages and self-care are vital. And definitely research everything you can find on this subject and become your own best advocate you will need to navigate/advocate for your medical treatment thru the years. One thing I’ve learned is doctors 🥼 have never walked in the shoes of a person diagnosed with degenerative disc disease so it’s easy to say “don’t worry” but I bet if the shoe 👟 was in the other foot 🦶🏽 it would be a different story!
Thanks to both of you. Having health factors impact my life for the worse everyday while doctors reassure that it isn’t something to worry about is…mind-boggling. Also, I just started seeing a new PCP in December after making the break from my doctor of 3 years. I’d heard a lot of good things about my current PCP, but this scares me. What has helped since you were told you have degenerative disc (disease? disorder? whichever)?

It is a VERY scary thing to have doctors who don’t care or won’t help you figure out what’s going on with you. I do hope the alike community can help you feel like your not alone and I hope we can help you on your health journey. I have degenerative disc disease too so feel free to message me about any questions you might have.
Hey I hear yah when it comes to doctors not seemingly to be as concerned or care as much as you do. Unfortunately I think alot of it is just disconnect they either see it as a job or see it so much they have a hard time caring. My psych doctor is kind of that way just doesn't feel like she cares which I've heard is in their training so who knows maybe it's the same for other doctors. As far as the degenerative disc thing goes take it as a surface diagnosis and go from there. I've had back pain since I was a kid and severe neck and hip pain as an adult. I got told it was narrowing discs in my back and my spine was to straight in my neck. Chiropractor helped figure the neck out. The hip was from work and from bad sleeping arrangements. Pain sucks and you are far from alone. There's a whole community here with problems just like yours and we get you. If you need to talk feel free. People care!
