Hey. I’m new. I’m not exactly sure what to put here I guess. I was hoping to see what it was like before hand because I like to be able to plan out things before I act but I guess that’s a no no to this app. Anyway, nice to meet you all. It said to introduce myself? I’m Carly:) I struggle most with CPTSD which I’ve only now realized is the major root of all of my other disorders. I’m finding it hard to cope lately. Do any of you have this disorder and are willing to share your insight on how you’ve managed to cope through a dysregulated nervous system?? Please and thank you:) I’m nervous. Okay bye.

Hi Carly, welcome! I'm pretty new too, I'm trying to use this app so I don't feel so isolated in my struggles. It took me almost 6 years of working on my mental health before a therapist helped me realize I have cptsd. At the time I didn't realize what I had gone through was abnormal so I had never mentioned it before then. I then realized it was the root of almost all of my symptoms, and I had been treating it wrong for all those years. As odd as it may seem, I use my diagnosis to motivate me. There's nothing I can do about it except go to therapy and learn how to take care of myself, but having the benefit of knowing what's going on with me makes me feel in control of my approaches to healing and management. I also tend to plan things or rehearse situations in my head before it happens, and I thought that was unhealthy. I talked to my therapist about it recently and she said that as long as it works for me, its actually a very healthy coping technique. I hope that was helpful, and I hope this app gives you the support you need.
@MoS I totally feel you on that:) it took a mixture of therapy and a book to realize I’ve been handling things all wrong. But now I’m not always sure how to cope. It’s hard to realize all of my current coping strategies are just unnecessary past defense coping mechanisms that are now adding to my struggles. I feel isolated in my struggles too. I’ve been trying to listen to what my body’s telling me, and then to use my feelings to motivate me on what to do. Hearing that it’s helped you is nice:) I hope it’ll motivate me further to keep at it. Thank you for your kind message and effort
