I have an ongoing symptom for years now of an intermittent zapping in my head that I can’t control. I haven’t taken antidepressants for years so it’s not withdrawal symptoms. I’ve had a brain mri but nothing shows up to indicate what’s causing it. I’m very frustrated and wondering if anyone else is experiencing this issue and what it could be related to.

I am not sure what a brain zap. Unless it’s what I call “brain shift”. Those are definitely related to medications levels reaching a therapeutic level.

Brain zaps are caused by long term anxiety. They don’t hurt you long term, they’re just more of a nuisance. I started taking CBD fluid and that helped reduce them greatly.

I had brain zaps for a few months last year. Still not exactly sure what its related too i think maybe stress, low B12, or that i was dumb and stopped taking my medication for two weeks and then took it everyday for two months straight but thats when i started to notice it. Watching youtube, tv, studying, or trying to sleep is when I had it the most. My dad says he gets it when stressed and he’s never been on antidepressants. Im sorry you are experiencing that I know how scary it is. I suggest talking with your psychiatrist and maybe getting blood work done.
Ive only experienced brain zaps when coming off of paxil.
