I am on Cymbalta for depression and nerve pain. In 2019 I was walking and hit by a car. I broke my tibia and fibula. Im trying to get off of Cymbalta because it isn’t really helping my anxiety or depression but both times I’ve tried to tapper off my pain skyrockets! Ugh! Any thoughts?

Cymbalta and the generic versions unfortunately do not make small enough dose changes to taper off easily. It’s one of the hardest psych meds to get off of. There are guides online on how to either count the beads inside the capsules or weigh them on a micro scale to create your own taper down system that won’t have the horrible withdrawal. It’s of course something you should talk to a doctor about. But there are resources out there for those looking to get off the med

Have you considered adding to the Cymbalta? I’m on Cymbalta and Wellbutrin (bupropion) and as a combo they work for my depression and anxiety. Everyone is so different though but it might be worth a shot if you can’t seem to ween off the Cymbalta. Hope you find something that works for you.
