So I’ve been going through some gender dysphoria for my whole life but it never really clicked till last year that I may be non-binary/trans. My gf is helping me try out she/her pronouns and it’s super comforting and I like the pronouns but I don’t feel comfortable stating it yet and/or haven’t gotten it through my thick skull that I may be fully trans. I go by the label agender at this point. My question is; what is the next step I need to take? Or is it just time that it takes to get through?

I’m gonna see if my new college has an LGBT club so I can try out French iel pronouns at even Elle pronouns in French (I’m foreign exchange) and I use the name Basil now in France and I feel really supported. I need to shave more but jet lag still has its hold on me XD

I'm happy that you are starting to listen to yourself and explore new things. Like people above have said, consume media about trans things, explore your gender expression, try names and pronouns out. Don't rush anything, take your time. Hormones and surgery isn't for everyone and that's okay. Tucking, binding, shaving, etc. Isn't for everyone. Look into LGBT/ Trans centers in your town/state/province/or boarding areas. They might have local resources for you like specific gender therapist or even free support groups. Support groups really helped me at the beginning and even now. The ability to play with names and pronouns while also being able to talk with real people that have similar experiences is extremely helpful. Look for online ones as well!!! I hope you find your way friend!!!

honestly the next thing you can do is just play with your gender expression, kind of a trial and error sort of thing. and also just realize that no matter how you express yourself, your gender identity is still valid. i’m non-binary, use they/them but i’m still pretty feminine/flamboyant and i don’t bind! i still experimented with binding for quite a bit too and figured out that it wasn’t really my thing, and that’s okay :)

Truly in my experience I couldn't completely know if I was comfortable with a certain aspect of expressing my gender till I tried it. It's amazing you have a caring person there for you it really helps. My overall advice is try everything but don't rush it because truly time is the only thing that will guide you to you conclusion

For me it came with time. Some things just take time getting used to, especially changing name and pronouns. It's affirming, but it's also weird feeling

Reading/watching/listening to other trans people's stories might be beneficial. Mostly, it just takes time until you realize who you are and what you want for yourself
