I feel so stupid compared to everyone else. I just got diagnosed with adhd @ 19 and I realized that everything I hate about myself has mostly been adhd related. I’m in college now, and even people with adhd seem to be fairing well. It makes me feel like even more of a disappointment. Before covid I could function normally and I was only a little different. Now I can’t even hide my symptoms and do well on assignments. I can’t even eat at the dining hall often due to anxiety and sensory issues:(

I have a similar experience with ADHD symptoms, although my diagnosis was when I was a lot younger. My symptoms didn’t get in the way until I started to struggle in college when I was 19. I’m now 21 and still getting discovering how to manage my ADHD. If u can try to find someone who can hold u accountable for assignments if ur trouble is with planning/procrastination. Try to reach out to accessibility services on campus that can help if u have access to that on ur campus. I know it’s difficult, but try not to compare urself to others around u and how they’re doing. I also struggle with this, but focus on ur own goals and how u can improve personally. Wish I could give more advice, but just know you’re not the only person who is struggling. You’re not alone, and I wish u well!

Hiiii, i don’t have much to contribute other than to let you know you’re not alone! I’m a highschool dropout who also struggles with ADHD, anxiety, and agoraphobia and I started college later than most people, at about 23 years old. I’m still currently in the process of accepting that 1. Most people struggle with “imposter syndrome” in college to some degree, and are just good at hiding their insecurity but 2. I’ll probably always struggle with this a little more than most people do because of my ADHD and mental illness, but that doesn’t mean I don’t belong in college or can’t be successful. It just won’t come as “naturally” to us.

@IceCup have you tried talking with your school’s disability accommodation office to see if there’s anything they can help you with?
