GHSV-1 question: how do you have “the talk” with new sexual partners? how do you broach the topic without them running for the hills?

Please tell everyone of your partners, it may suck at first but you'll find a wording you like and it'll be okay.

I’ve had herpes for 5 and a half years now. I’ve told every single partner, or potential partner. Usually I say it outright in person or via text, just a little “hey just a heads up, I do have genital herpes, here are some precautions we can take if necessary”. Or there was the one time I went on a date and just started cracking herpes jokes until they got the hint lol. That was just once though

You should 100% tell all your partners. I got it because someone didn’t tell me. Be responsible

I disagree with the above comment. You should still tell new partners, even if you're on medication and/or using protection, because there's still a small chance you could pass along HSV. Honesty is the best policy, and it opens up a chance to talk about whether or not they have any STIs or have been tested recently.

If your taking your meds you shouldn’t say anything unless you want to get married then yes n my opinion but if it’s not a serious relationship use condoms n take care of yourself then you should be fine unless your having unprotected sex which wouldn’t be a good idea because what if they have something and pass it to you ? So I don’t think you should have unprotected sex And wouldn’t need the talk.. but you should have the talk and make sure that they don’t have any stds.. and use condoms..
