Hello! This is a kinda random question but I work in customer service (deli/bakery) and a coworker and I think one of the fairly regular customers likes me. Because I’ve been struggling a lot with panic attacks and little bouts of losing all motivation to do everything, I know I’m in not in the best mental space for a relationship and don’t feel comfortable even theoretically dating a customer. Anyone have any recommendations for how to handle the situation?

I worked donut counter for a while- I had a couple regulars who would hit on me. The one I felt comfortable with I would flirt with, innocent things- a wink or having their order pre bagged. The ones I wasn’t comfortable with I just pretended I didn’t hear. It helped that I often got confused with the other donut girl who was actually deaf 😅

I’ve been in a similar situation. There’s a heavy stigma surrounding those who struggle with this when people have a hard time understanding. I struggle heavily with constantly needing validation and attention, so I usually caved in regardless of my mental state hoping to be “saved”. I truly believe that it can be a risky game, sometimes you’ll undergo a bout of extreme thrill and happiness when it starts out, but it usually diminishes over time. I am a firm believer in learning to love yourself and have your life in a comfortable spot before making any commitments or changes. At times it can feel like these commitments can become chores, which isn’t fair to you or the person in question. Personally, I would continue being friendly. Possibly pursue a general friendship with the person and if they advance just be transparent that you need a bit of time before you’re able to commit to something so special. I wish you the best of luck. Follow your heart.
