I feel so helpless. I don’t know how to explain to my mom and my boyfriend that my health varies so drastically hour to hour, I hate seeing the scared look on peoples faces when I tell them how high my heart rate is, and I’m sick of feeling like I’m going to pass out or like my heart is going to pound out of my chest. I’m taking salt pills and wearing compression socks, along with upping electrolyte intake, cutting down on caffeine. I’m starting to do more strengthening exercises because I’m told that would help but it just all feels pointless because I still feel so shitty all of the time. How do you guys best cope?

I’m right there with you. It feels like nothing actually helps, and nobody really understands the extent of the situation since POTS is mostly invisible. I try to stay positive as best as I can by celebrating little wins (my heart rate maxed out at 198 today- I count that as a success since it’s below 200!) and reminding myself that losing hope won’t help. As long as I hold on to small goals taking things one step at a time, things start to seem a little more manageable. It can be tough when nobody in your close circle truly gets what you’re going through, but just remember that you’re your best ally and your own health advocate! You got this, stay strong, and feel free to reach out if you need someone to talk to (even if it’s just celebrating a little win) 💛

I totally get where your coming from. It’s my first year teaching and it’s gotten so much worse this year. Especially teaching kindergarten and all the up and downs. I think for me it’s finding my triggers and knowing my limits.
