Hello. My name is Inesse and I was diagnosed with chronic urticaria. Other than meds are there any other treatments you can share with me? How have you had urticaria and what medications do you take? Has it gotten better or same or worse? Thanks for sharing

Hi My teenage son has been diagnosed with Cold Water Urticaria. Antihistamines aren't really helping so he just has to avoid swimming. Has anyone else experienced this or have any suggestions on treatment?

I have had chronic idiopathic urticaria since I was 11 (6 years). I got my first period about a month after I started showing symptoms and I tend to have flares more when I’m on my period, so it’s likely hormone related. I have lots of triggers (heat, saltwater, stress, latex, artificial dyes, etc) but avoiding them isn’t too much trouble. I also keep ice packs and lidocaine in the fridge for flares, and I like keeping colloidal oatmeal and Nivea in shower body lotion around for in the bath, too. Mine has gotten progressively worse over the years, but since I was so young when I first got sick, my case is a bit abnormal. Most cases last between 6 months and 5 years :)

@BAKER You can also try a low histamine diet! I wouldn’t do a strictly no or low histamine diet because there isn’t a whole lot you can eat and it often leads to malnutrition, but cutting out some high histamine foods in your diet can make a difference

I recently developed it moving cities. And that was back in 2013. My allergies have me on hydroxyzine it has been helping me also stay hydrated it definitely helps and try my best to stay out of direct sunlight I notice once I get it overheated my body tends to flare up.
