Is anyone else out there actually, for sure, diagnosed, 100% bipolar II? I feel like there are no other bipolar II people, but a ton of bipolar I.

I am diagnosed bipolar 2 since 2018. I've only had a handful of what they consider true manic episodes, my meds usually keep me in a mild hypomania. Although quite often when I'm manic I just clean my whole house at 4am.

I also take prazosin for nightmares and hydroxyzine for anxiety. But for bipolar, yes, only ziprasidone. The brand name is called Geodon. It helps with my depression most of the time but sometimes it doesn't help if it's situational. However, I haven't had much mania at all while taking it. I hope it helps you!

@SalineTurnip prazosin helps me so much, I'd have nightmares followed by hallucinations and a low dose of prazosin took care of it, its so relieving to not be scared to sleep

I can totally relate! I have been a zombie since early June. This summer was a nightmare, trying to find the right meds. I was totally fine for 2 years on a mood stabilizer and anti-anxiety meds, and then they just suddenly stopped working. It was all I could do to stay out of the hospital. May I ask how old you are? How long have you known youā€™ve had this disorder?

@CuddleCat I'm 40 and have been dealing with it since I was like 10. But my diagnosis was just changed about 2 years ago. Before then they just had me diagnosed with major depression. I changed doctors and bc my mom, sister and 2 of my kids have bipolar disorder and the regular depression meds weren't working she diagnosed me with bipolar 2. My sister daughter have bipolar one but me and my son have 2.

@Harlie wow! Thereā€™s strong proof of genetics right there. Itā€™s kind of awesome you have so many family members that can I understand. My cousinā€™s daughter has it but other than that I donā€™t know of any others. Do you ever discuss medications with each other?

I have bipolar 2. My depressive episodes are horrible and stretch for weeks and months. And then I'll get like a 3 day manic cycle where I'm productive and that's about it. I've been on about 30 different medications and am still looking for something that will give me some relief. Just started Lexapro with oxcarbazepine twice a day to go with it. Praying it offers me a little relief bc I've just been sleeping my life away the past few months bc it's the only way I can get through the day.
