hi! i’m ash (he/him ftm) and i’m 15. i’m very closeted, especially with my parents, and i’m only out to a few very close friends. does anyone have any tips for feeling more masculine or more like myself without being very obvious?

fun tip for being in school: carry your notebooks/books/etc. at your side instead of in front of you. i dont know how people do it, it personally hurts my wrisr, but it definitely looks more masculine! and keeping your head up in the hallways and holding your backpack straps

You can wear a sweatshirt around your waist and it covers your thighs making you more masculine looking!

if you're able to get a binder discreetly, gc2b is probably the best option bc it looks similar to a sports bra. If you're not able to get one at all, compression sports bras have a similar effect! Baggy clothing and stuff like bootcut jeans, or even just sweat pants can help. There's a subreddit for transmen and a lot of youtube videos giving advice on stuff like this, too! Also layering your clothes- plain/graphic tees underneath button up shirts (long or short sleeve!) might help! Filling in your eyebrows w matte eyeshadow can also make u look more masc (don't do too much or it might look too blocky & unnatural). Also, it's really important to remember that passing isn't everything & you're valid in your identity no matter how you dress or how far along in your transition you are!! Good luck, i hope everything works out for you and you're able to be in an environment where you're free to be yourself soon ❤️

If you can get a binder, gc2b is discreet and you can pass it as a sports bra or tank top. Hoodies help. If you have longer hair, tie it back and tuck it inside a hat

My first go to would be wearing boxers and using men's hygiene products, like deodorant or shampoo/conditioner/body wash. You could say boxers are just more comfortable (I like boxer briefs), and you like the smell of the men's soap better than women's. Stopping shaving your armpits and legs because "it's a lot of work". Start wearing men's clothes because they're more comfortable and cheaper than women's clothes (and pockets!!). Practice dropping your voice by doing "impressions". Basically just finding whatever excuse for doing what makes you feel comfortable until you're in a position where you're confident coming out
