Any young adults who have family who actively make your life more difficult? Even if they’re good people or have good intentions? *sorry for the long read, just kinda need to vent* I’m 29 and my (admittedly, not so great) dad died when I was 17 and 3 years later my mom started disability after a heart attack and severe mobility issues due to bone on bone joints and her weight. Her pay was halved and between 2013-2015 I was working a full time job as well as building up a side business and saved quite a bit but then I had to use all that money to pay back taxes on our house or we would have had lost it to foreclosure. The house is in her name and she controls most of the bills but she also REFUSES to receive any kind of financial aid to help relieve some of the burden. To be fair, I’m not forced to stay here and a lot of the reason I don’t leave is because of abandonment issues and general fear/ anxiety and depression but another large part is the financial aspect. I’ve tried getting her to apply for SNAP benefits, tax assistance and even selling the house so we each get a sum of money and allows her to move to a one level apartment/house to make getting around but her pride won’t let her. I’ve sunk a lot of money into this house and renovated it myself as much as I could to increase the value when we sell it but she won’t budge. If I leave, she won’t have the money to pay all the bills and it will be a matter of time before she loses the house and gets nothing and has nowhere to go, but if I stay then I miss out on experiences as a young adult (dating, feeling independent and making my own mistakes feels impossible if I’m still living with my mom at 30y/o). I want what is best for both of us and it INFURIATES ME that she is willing to lose it all because of her pride. Any advice/comfort would be appreciated. I’ve been over this is my mind and with others literally hundreds of times but it never gets resolved.
