When I’m home alone I keep having intrusive thoughts that someone is watching me, or someone is in the house (even could be a supernatural something even though I don’t believe in that stuff) it’s really scary and makes me really anxious 😥 is this OCD? I don’t know why I keep getting this. Nothing has happened for me to be worried about someone being in the house. The only thing that happened was when I was very little, someone told me a scary story about an intruder in the house and it really freaked me out. I could never shake off the thought and always had to check behind doors and stuff in the house since.

OCD does cause intrusive thoughts that are repetitive like this I used to believe there was cameras in all the gaps in where I lived thinking I was being watched all the time eventually I wasn't scared of it no more was like well if they are watching nothing is happening so it's their issue not mine it's not anything I'm doing wrong etc stuff like that But at the start I did find it rather scary

I have always felt like I'm being watched. I never really feel alone. I just kinda deal with it. Sometimes I talk to the void and that helps. It used to terrify me but I realized it's just in my head so I mess around with it.

I think the intrusive thoughts are part of OCD, but this sounds a lot more like my paranoia that, untreated, led to delusions and psychosis.

I've dealt with this! I decided to tape up pictures of my favorite characters on the back of my door (it was happening in my room) and that made it feel like they were watching me. turned it into a protective type feeling.

Hello. I'm new here. I say this lightly because I know it's not for everyone.. but just within the past couple weeks I started taking tch supplements in the evening. I'm very sensitive to getting high so it's not something I've done regularly and I'm extremely cautious to only take a small amount. But it's helping my anxiety tremendously. (And again I am cautious because I know it can easily have the opposite effect). I have suffered from obsessive thoughts and they are usually the most intense in the evenings. I haven't dealt with this since I started using the tch. I notice my mind is no less busy but my thoughts are much kinder and gentler on myself. I don't get attached to the scary doom and gloom stuff that I'm used to. Anywho, that's what's helping me with late night stress lately.

@mamabear1990 thank you. I actually thought I had a different disorder for a long time now. Regardless of what it is, it brings me comfort that it’s not all that abnormal. Thank youuuu

@mamabear1990 thank you for replying it’s good to know that it’s my ocd and not something else 💕 I’m glad you was able to stop being so scared about it, I’m not sure how to get into that mindset in this situation though 😕

@BrokenPotato it's a hard cycle I can admit currently in getting post partum anxiety so all my intrusive thoughts are about my kids being unsafe or suddenly stopping breathing etc so I got other things to be scared if now for a bit 🤣😩😭

When I feel really alone, my brain starts to find ways to convince myself I’m not alone. I’ve learned to try and make friends with these thoughts, but I still really struggle with them.

I have this same fear, I’m not home alone much but when I am I lock myself in my room and make sure all the doors are locked, I know it for me was worse in a house I was attached to by trauma. It made me frightened and I would run to my room from any other room when I was alone and turn in every light I could. And close every door allowed. But good thing is, now that I’ve moved and gotten some help with my fears and anxiety and honestly concerns I’ve been feeling a bit as ease. Not completely healed but getting to a point of accepting that I will be okay and calling someone helps most times too.

@BrokenPotato I hope you can start somewhere safe and work up, even a drop in the ocean can make a big ripple! ❤️

You could have an attachment in the house but it could also be your panic disorder. Rule out the possibility of attachment first and then go from there. Maybe a good sage cleanse.
