I know the only way to truly verify the location and severity/stage of my endo is to have surgery. But does anyone recommend imaging/tests of any kind (MRI?) as another way to gain insight into my specific condition? Or is pursuing more imaging options just a waste of my time? Thank you!

Don't bother with imagining. It doesn't show up. I had so many andominal X-rays, CT scans, even an MRI or two, AND multiple ultrasounds before my endo diagnosis, and when I had surgery they found tons of endo all up in my intestines. They may require an ultrasound before you're allowed to get surgery, but it won't show anything

I had so many tests, but they couldn’t truly diagnose without surgery. And surgery changed my life for the better pain wise. I don’t regret it at all. Best of luck to you ❤️

Honestly it doesn’t change anything. If you have the symptoms and you’re confident that you have the disease all it does is confirm. Whether you’re stage one or four you need surgery for pain relief. It sucks but sadly it doesn’t change treatment. I guess it might help you select a surgeon? But then the imaging is often unreliable. I think there is nothing wrong with doing it but there aren’t a crazy amount of benefits. If you choose to do it, try to through Seckin Endometriosis Center because they have people who can read MRIs for endo more skilled than the average radiologist! Best of luck! Let me know if you have other questions or want to chat :)

@Belugabear Thank you so much. I agree with everything you’ve said. I know it’s an option to pursue more tests and imaging, just to get more info. That potential extra info would just be for my mind, to possibly better understand and explain my symptoms. But I also know that it won’t change anything or lead to any physical relief. I’m just feeling very torn about surgery right now because my husband and I are trying to conceive (just started trying recently, only one month) So hard to know what the “right” or “best” path is to take! Thank you again! 💕

@Jojo1084 best of luck conceiving! I’m not sure how much you’ve read so sorry if I’m explaining something you already know, but the surgery helps a lot with fertility! But it is hard to know the best thing to do for sure, especially with what timing is best. I do understand wanting the peace of mind from the imaging, it just stinks when nothing shows up. Especially since you know you have it, but then you start second guessing yourself. I’ve been through this a few times so I get it.
