Does anyone have any tips on how to sleep better and later? I’ve been waking up around 4am for the last month and I’d like to have a day where I sleep in, or a night where I sleep good. I’d appreciate any help!

@ATrainwreck ah interesting! Yeah Im the same, I have some remote lights just to get me into bed, then my tablet light/other nightlights do the work when I need to. Sometimes tho I gotta face the dark, as darkness helps my birds get better sleep 😅

Asmr before bed. And I've heard cherry juice works good if you drink some before bed! (Tiktok)

I can't promise it works for everyone but I agree that weighted blankets helps sleep dramatically for me; and also just a routine or for me, the biggest thing is little 'triggers' or something that tells me brain to sleep. Soft/specific songs, or imaginative ideas with specific characters, or listening/watching something in a dark space. (I keep no lights on but I'm also afraid of what lurks in darkness, so a night light could be a good compromise)

@haylo Just wanted to add real fast that I am also scared of what lurks in the dark. I have a night light with a remote that I used (still do on bad nights) and eventually I was able to wear a sleep mask with the light on. Now I just wear a sleep mask. It wasn't a fast process by any means but it has helped my quality of sleep tremendously and lowered the time needed to fall asleep

@haylo Forgot to add; if you do watch/listen keep light setting low and soft ofc; I find my tablet never gets dark enough so I use an app to increase it.

The thing about sleep is not everything works for everyone so my ideas may suck to you but this is what I've got. I sleep with a weighted blanket. If I don't sleep with it I wake up a minimum of 4 times a night. I also sleep with an eye mask. I used to take melatonin but would forget to take it at the correct time (at minimum, 30 minutes before sleeping). If you are any meds definitely check if you can take melatonin with them if you decide to try that.

@ATrainwreck One very important thing I forgot is my wind down routine. At first it may not seem like it helps but eventually you Pavlov's dog yourself and it works great. I start by turning the lights off then watching 1 video that isn't sleepy but is calm. Then I watch an ASMR video, Baumgartner's art restoration (can also work as the calm video), listening to a soundscape audio, or there is a podcast called "Nothing Much Happens". With the podcast, if you use spotify you can set it to stop at a certain time (I usually pick end of episode). With anything youtube I would suggest turning autoplay off.
