Any advice for losing weight while on antipsychotics? I’ve gained about 40lbs since I started taking antipsychotics two years ago and I’m having a really hard time trying to lose it. :(

When I first started medication after putting myself in the psych ward I gained 25 pounds in one week. 4 years later still haven't been able to shed the weight no matter what I try. I guess I'm trying to say you're not alone

I did keto. Talk to your doctor first to see if it’s a good match for you. But I lost 48lbs in 3 months on a keto diet while on 3 antipsychotic. I put in maybe 60lbs or so from antipsychotic to start with. It’s not for everyone and can be expensive. I ate less red meat and more fat though because I’m not a big fan of meat.

I deal with the same thing. The best thing to do is to just try and keep good foods going in and trying to keep as much activity as you can. Even just going for a 10 minute walk can do wonders if you do it regularly. It also helps with symptoms when you feel stressed or our of it. A quick walk around the block
